Week 9: Social Networking

Activities this week:

Visit Facebook and login as the fictional HPL employee Ima Reader. Her username is hplfacebook@gmail.com and her password is facebook1.

Browse Ima’s profile

Start searching for friends, family members and colleagues.  Browse the profiles of other people on facebook. You can search for specific people or just browse a specific network (Hamilton, ON etc)

Add an application.  There are many applications to choose from!  

 

Visit the Hamilton Public Library Learning 2.0 social network (http://hamiltonpubliclibrary.ning.com/) and sign-up for an account.  This network has been created specifically for this project, so don’t worry – no one from grade school will hunt you down!

Fill in the “About Me” section

Upload a picture (it doesn’t have to be a picture of you)

Change the appearance of your profile

Add 2 friends.

 

Visited Facebook as Ima Reader early on, when it was still possible to do so.  Added an ‘application’, an invitation to a fictitious event.  Browsed, searched, etc. 

 

Signed up on the Hamilton Public Library Learning 2.0 social network.  Uploaded a picture, added two friends, etc. etc.
